Book Binding

Muse Print Management can offer you the following finishing options when choosing to bind a book, magazine or brochure:

• Section Sewn Binding
• Perfect Binding
• Burst Binding
• PUR Binding
• Case Binding (in squares or cut flush)
• Saddle-Stitching
• Thermal Binding
• Wiro-Binding
• Canadian Binding 
• Comb Binding etc

When perfect binding, burst binding or PUR binding a minimum allowance of 3mm should be made at the head, the for-edge and at the foot for trimming to the finished size. Some additional room should also be left at the spine for shaving off. The strongest binds will always be achieved with cartridge papers rather than art papers. Art papers upto 150gsm can usually be bound without any problems. In some circumstances 170gsm art papers can be bound but we would recommend that you discuss this with us prior to printing. We would always recommend that the book should open against the grain of the material that it is printed on.

Finishing options such as foil blocking, die-stamping, embossing, drilling, shrink-wrapping, indexing etc are also available.

Maybe you fancy a book that is an unusual size?

Maybe you require a durable section sewn binding with a linen lined spine (such as the picture of the register book to the left)?

This book is also case bound and cut-flush so that the pages are the exact same length as the case itself.

The spine is then re-inforced with a fabric strip.

Alternatively it may be a short run of books that youu require?

Runs of only a hundred copies or so are usually best produced on a digital press.

We can offer the possibility of high quality production on a HP Indigo press or i-Gen 3.

Alternatively, if it is an unusual size that you are looking for?

Then as long as the paper is on a suitable stock we are able to produce unusual sizes (such as landscape) books that will not fit on a conventional SRA3 press digitally.
